ChattanoogaTimesFreePress: Tennessee GOP lawmakers say ban on gender-affirming care protects children

GOP lawmakers gathered at Collegedale City Hall on Monday morning to discuss their belief that Tennessee’s ban on gender-affirming care for minors — currently being challenged by the federal government before the U.S. Supreme Court — protects children.

“Fundamentally, that was our objective with the legislation that we passed,” said state Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson, R-Franklin, “to protect children from these gender reassignment surgeries and the use of very harmful prescription medications that can result in a lifetime of health implications for children.”
