NBC39: Tennessee state senators talked with press about anti-transgender minor bill

“Yesterday was a very, very historic day for Tennessee and also the nation,” Tennessee Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson, said.

Tennessee state senators spoke about the Transgender Debate happening in the state at the Old Country Store Thursday.

“People may disagree politically on a lot of things, but this is an issue that, there’s a lot of people whose hearts go out to parents of children facing these concerns, but they they just do not believe it’s something that a doctor should be able to do,” State Senator John Stevens said.

Tennessee State Senators Jack Johnson, Page Walley, and John Stevens are on a tour across the state to talk about Bill 1.

“It’s Senate Bill 1, House Bill 1 for the 113th General Assembly. And that is legislation that prohibits trans gender reassignment surgeries on minors and use of certain prescription medications for the purposes of gender reassignment,” State Senator Johnson said.

The Bill was presented with Oral Arguments in the Supreme Court on Thursday.
